Hi, I’m Drew Tabor (she/her)

I’m a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) offering affirming therapy for individuals, couples, and families in-person in Long Beach, CA and virtually.

My work centers around one simple belief: healing happens through safe, authentic connection. When you can show up fully as yourself, without judgment or shame, that’s when real change begins.

Therapy with Drew Tabor, AMFT

Human connection can hold both our deepest joy and our hardest pain.

If you’re navigating disconnection, communication breakdowns, or the lingering weight of past trauma, we’ll work together to understand those patterns and gently create new ones.

In my sessions, I draw from evidence-based methods like Internal Family Systems (parts-work), Narrative Therapy, and the Gottman Method to help you rebuild trust, strengthen your relationships, and reconnect with what feels most true and alive within you.

As a relational therapist, my focus is on how your connections — to yourself and others — shape healing.

A Bit About My Philosophy

Before becoming a therapist, I spent years as a songwriter and content creator, drawn to how emotion and storytelling can move people.

After going through my own recovery and mental health journey, I realized the music industry no longer felt like home. Psychology and mental health did. I began studying at community college, earned my master’s in clinical psychology, and found a new way to stay connected to what drew me to music in the first place: the power of human connection.

Since then, I’ve worked in residential treatment centers, shelters, and private practice, walking alongside people from many different backgrounds and identities. Each experience deepened my belief that everyone deserves a space to feel safe, seen, and supported.

Supporting

2SLGBTQIA+

I primarily work with queer and transgender adults, teens (with parental consent), and couples. My approach is trauma-informed and identity-affirming, centering the lived experiences of people with marginalized identities. When helpful, I connect clients with LGBTQ+ community resources to extend care beyond the therapy room.

Queer Therapist

My Approach

Therapy isn’t about quick fixes. It’s about building a relationship that helps you heal.

Research shows that the most powerful part of therapy is the therapeutic relationship itself: the trust, safety, and connection between therapist and client. That’s why I focus on creating a space where your story is honored, your identity is affirmed, and your healing unfolds at your pace.

Our work together isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about returning to yourself.

Outside the Therapy Room

When I’m not working with clients, you can usually find me walking my dog, grabbing coffee, or unwinding with reality dating shows. Staying connected to joy, rest, and play helps me show up grounded and fully present for the people I work with.
